Brought my VW for a timing chain issue they claimed they are able to fix. After paying a $300 diagnosis fee (to figure out what I told them) they decided they can't or don't want to do the timing chain service. Recommended an engine replacement which they also can't do. Complete waste of time and money, can't do the work I requested nor the work they recommend. Edit: Yes, you were informed it was a timing chain issue. Please look at the form I hand-filled out in your shop in which I wrote down it was timing chain issue - You should upload a photo to back up your claims. Explained another shop had done the valve cover seal but were not able to do the timing chain. "per your emails" no emails were exchanged, all over text / phone calls. I never stated the diagnosis was faulty spark plugs, your techs asked if other work was done and I said my spark plugs were replaced ~2yrs ago but that's irrelevant, even have text evidence explaining what work was done and spark plugs are not on that list. My car does not have close to 200k, its at 119k right now which is a huge difference. You guys seem to have internal communication issues as you don't even have the correct information. Please see my screenshot from your service portal showing my car is not 200k miles and timing chain was my #1 concern. Please stop lying to make your shop look better. Went to an Audi - VW specialist who find it funny an engine replacement was recommended, they are fixing the timing chain for me without hassle.
You came in because you had another shop look at your car and their repair did not fix your problem. We diagnosed your car and found it had a timing chain issue. You never told us the other shop diagnosed a faulty timing chain. Per your emails you stated another shop diagnosed your misfires as faulty spark plugs which they replaced but your car still wasn't running right. We do have the ability to replace timing chains, but on a car with almost 200,000 miles and multiple oil leaks it is recommend to replace the engine which we do not do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You are correct and I made a mistake and was thinking of another car that was here for similar problems and like your car was just at another shop. That is what my response was referring to. I apologize for the confusion because I didn’t take the time to properly verify you in our system. From our experience when we see a car with internal engine over pressurizing there is more damage internally to the engine than just the timing chain. You asked us to diagnose the over pressurizing and was suspicious of a timing chain issue. That is what we charged you for.
